Homeschool educators across the Lone Star State are invited to a free hands-on workshop at the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.
The immersive learning experience, hosted by Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Agriculture in the Classroom® and The National Ranching Heritage Center, is set for Nov. 20.
“This workshop will equip homeschool educators with practical resources and engaging activities they can use to bring agriculture to life for their students,” Carson Read, TFB education coordinator, said. “Understanding where our food, fiber and fuel come from helps students connect classroom lessons to the world around them.”
Throughout the workshop, participants will take part in interactive presentations that showcase creative ways to integrate agriculture into a variety of subject areas.
Educators will also learn about programs and resources that support agricultural literacy both inside and outside the classroom.
The learning experience will continue Nov. 21, with a Family Day at the National Ranching Heritage Center.
Students and their families are invited to explore the museum and participate in a variety of educational, hands-on activities that highlight Texas agriculture and ranching history.
“We’re excited to partner with the National Ranching Heritage Center to create an experience that not only supports homeschool educators, but also encourages families to learn together,” Read said. “By combining history, agriculture and interactive learning, we hope participants leave inspired and confident in teaching about one of Texas’ most important industries.”
The workshop is free to attend, but registration is required. Registration closes Nov. 2.
Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses if traveling from outside the surrounding area.
Only registered homeschool educators may attend the workshop. The Family Day is open to students and their families.
Attendance is limited to 40 participants, and each adult attending must register separately. A waitlist will begin once all available spots are filled.
A minimum of 15 confirmed attendees is required for the workshop to take place.
