Texas Farm Bureau’s AgLead program empowers farmers and ranchers with the skills they need to continue the proud legacy of Texas agriculture. In two years, AgLead class members don’t just learn about leadership. They become leaders for agriculture and Texas communities.

Overview

Advocating for agriculture isn’t just important. It’s essential. As Texas becomes increasingly urban, the need for strong, informed voices representing farmers and ranchers continues to grow. That’s where AgLead comes in.

The program equips participants with legislative and policy knowledge, leadership and communication skills, practical business management tools, and an understanding of how global agriculture impacts Texas.

Every two years, this competitive program selects up to 12 applicants who are 25 years or older to develop their voice for Texas agriculture. The next application cycle will take place in Fall 2027.

Focus Areas

This enhanced, two-year experience builds on the strong foundation of previous programs and is designed to develop effective communicators, strategic thinkers, and confident leaders who are equipped to initiate meaningful change. Each session is intentionally structured to build upon the last, offering expanded exposure to international trade, policy advocacy, and business management.

Meet AgLead XVII

AgLead XVII brings together members from across the state—from the Panhandle Plains to the Coastal Bend. Over the next two years, these 12 participants will not only travel the world and explore agriculture in depth but also develop the advocacy and leadership skills needed to advance the industry and serve as strong voices for Texas agriculture.

Meet the current class.

Session 1 Recap

Texas Farm Bureau’s AgLead XVII class met in Waco Feb. 15-18 to begin the program’s two-year leadership development experience. The session marked the first opportunity for the class to connect and begin leadership training.

Participants heard from industry leaders and communications professionals on topics ranging from storytelling and advocacy to the role media plays in shaping public perception of agriculture. Sessions focused on helping participants share their experiences in agriculture more effectively and communicate in ways that build trust and strengthen relationships beyond the farm gate.
