The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s January Crop Report reveals record yields for several major crops grown in the United States.
According to USDA Chief Economist Joe Glauber, corn production is down to 13.9 billion bushels, which is still a record. Nineteen U.S. states have reported record corn production. Average yield is about 158.8 bushels per acre.
Soybean production has also reportedly hit a milestone in the U.S. with 32.9 billion bushels. Average yield is 43.3 billion bushels.
U.S. cotton production was also up this year with approximately 13.2 million bales.
Global wheat production was up 1.2 percent at 712.7 million tons.
