Consumers of all ages can explore Texas agriculture through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Doorways to Agriculture interactive exhibit at fairs and events this fall.

“Doorways to Agriculture is designed to give people an opportunity to experience agriculture in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand,” said Kyndal King, TFB outreach coordinator. “Whether someone is learning about agriculture for the first time or wants to know more about how their food and fiber is grown, the exhibit helps connect those everyday products back to the farmers and ranchers who make them possible.”

The exhibit includes state-of-the-art touchscreen kiosks, oversized interactive “books” and a theater showcasing videos produced by TFB.

Several walk-through trailers are full of displays and games that encourage kids and adults to learn more about their food and fiber.

“Fewer people today have a direct connection to agriculture, so there’s a growing need to help consumers understand where their food, clothing and other products come from,” King said. “By bringing Doorways to Agriculture to livestock shows and events across Texas, we’re able to meet people where they are, answer their questions and help build a stronger connection between Texas farmers and ranchers and the families they serve.”

The Doorways to Agriculture exhibit includes a miniature model of a cotton gin that shows the process cotton goes through to transform into a clean fiber.

Other presentations available through the exhibit include a corn shelling demonstration, a butter demonstration and a wheat processing demonstration.

Doorways to Agriculture will be on display at:

  • Tri-State Fair: Sept. 18-27
  • State Fair of Texas: Sept. 25 – Oct. 18
  • Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo: Oct. 8-18
  • Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo: Oct. 23-25
