Texas teachers can receive scholarships to learn more about resources and ways to incorporate agriculture in the classroom and attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference.
Teachers interested in attending the conference in summer 2025 can apply for financial assistance from Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) to help offset some of the costs.
The conference, set for June 23-26 in Minneapolis, Minn., is designed to show K-12 teachers how to integrate agriculture into subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, social studies, nutrition and more.
Throughout the conference, the teachers will have the opportunity to hear from leading educators from around the country and participate in engaging learning sessions. They will get the chance to tour farms, ranches and agricultural businesses and gain ideas and resources to incorporate agriculture into their classrooms.
“TFB is dedicated to providing meaningful professional development opportunities for teachers aiming to incorporate agriculture into their curriculum,” said Jordan Bartels, TFB associate director of Organization Division, Educational Outreach. “The conference serves as a platform for professional growth and for connecting educators with others from across the nation. TFB believes this experience will enable teachers to bring valuable insights from the conference back to their students.”
The scholarships will help cover the conference registration fee, airfare or mileage to Minneapolis up to $700, as well meals up to $300, reimbursed upon conference attendance. Lodging is booked and provided by TFB.
“This opportunity not only supports teachers and their students but helps encourage and increase agricultural literacy among students throughout Texas,” Bartels said. “If you know a teacher looking for resources or guidance to integrate agriculture into their classroom, encourage them to apply for this scholarship and attend the conference.”
Applicants must be active K-12 classroom teachers who teach in a Texas school and have not previously attended the conference.
Agricultural science teachers are not eligible to apply.
The deadline to apply for the conference scholarships is Jan. 22. Teachers can apply online at texasfarmbureau.org/aitc.
