The search is on for the first Texas Ag Influencer of the Year.
Texas Farm Bureau is launching a new contest to surface Texas-based influencers who use their platforms to promote agriculture, food and rural life. Whether sharing farm stories, showcasing Texas-grown products or advocating for the rural way of life, these influencers play a vital role in connecting consumers with agriculture.
“Social media is a powerful tool for telling agriculture’s story,” Julie Tomascik, Texas Farm Bureau associate director of Communications, said. “The Texas Ag Influencer of the Year Contest will recognize those who use their voice to engage, inspire and teach their followers about farming, ranching and food production.”
Content creators are reaching broad audiences and growing knowledge in food and agriculture. The Texas Ag Influencer of the Year Contest aims to elevate those efforts and spotlight the importance of digital agricultural advocacy.
“This contest will help identify individuals who are passionate about Texas agriculture,” Tomascik said.
Applicants must be Texas residents and actively engaged in ag- or food-related content creation on social media. Platforms may include Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube or others. Content should be original, accurate and reflective of the diversity and values of Texas agriculture.
A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on content quality, creativity, engagement, consistency and overall impact on agriculture.
The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize, expense-paid trip to Texas Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in December, branded gear and a potential influencer contract with Texas Farm Bureau.
Nominations are open through July 1. Self-nominations are accepted.
The winner will be announced later this year.
