Hay production and management strategies, as well as presentations on co-existing with wildlife, will be the focus of the 28th annual O.D. Butler Hay Field Day. The event is set for May 16 at Camp Cooley Ranch in Franklin.
Presentation topics will include: discussion and demonstration of nozzle selection for the best control of sandburs; economic value of hay; soil preparation for sprigging or seeding grasses; discussion of three yaupon control plots and an ongoing grass clipping demonstration; soil renovation; and weed and grass control in newly established Bermuda grasses.
According to AgriLife Today, the field day also will include six tour stops of demonstrations and information from Texas Farm Bureau on the Texas Beef Checkoff referendum.
The registration fee is $25 and includes lunch and materials with information from the various outdoor stops and indoor presentations.
