Farmers and ranchers interested in wheat, canola, triticale and cropping systems are encouraged to attend a field day hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Chillicothe Station May 14 in Chillicothe.
According to AgriLife Today, the annual Hardeman County Wheat Field Tour and the Rolling Plains Spring Field Day, held every three years, will be combined this year.
Herbicide regulations will be discussed, followed by morning field tours. Two new TAM wheat varieties being released by the Texas A&M AgriLife wheat breeding program also will be announced. The keynote speaker will be Julie Borlaug, external relations director for Texas A&M AgriLife Research’s Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator continuing education units—two general and one laws and regulations—will be offered. Participants planning to receive continuing education units will need to pay a registration fee of $10.
