Soil and water conservation week runs through May 4

Two major resources are the subject of Soil and Water Conservation Week, which is set for April 27 through May 4.

As one of the largest national annual programs to promote conservation, Soil and Water Conservation Week is designed to recognize the work of conservation districts, local and state governments and private landowners who contribute to both water and soil conservation.

Due to the prolonged drought in Texas, many of the state’s farmers and ranchers have aggressively adopted innovative technologies and on-farm conservation practices, according to the Southwest Farm Press.

Ducks Unlimited, the Association of Texas Soil & Water Conservation Districts (ATSWCD), Texas Wildlife Association and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board partnered together to highlight the important connection between voluntary land stewardship and sustaining water availability.
