Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) awarded Breanna Morgan, a senior at Graford High School, a $5,000 scholarship during the Texas Association, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) state conference.

Each year, TFB awards one scholarship to a state or regional officer of Texas FCCLA who majors in a field of study related to family and consumer sciences.

“Texas Farm Bureau works alongside Texas FCCLA to help shape the future of student leaders,” Dr. Clarissa Darby, TFB Youth Outreach coordinator, said. “Family and consumer sciences works hand-in-hand with agriculture and gives students pathways into careers like nutrition, culinary arts, textiles and consumer resource management.”

After graduation, Morgan plans to attend Tarleton State University and study sports management and education. She plans to become a teacher with the hopes of coaching.

She has been active in FCCLA since she was in sixth grade. She’s competed in events and served as the region vice president of public relations. She has held the role of Texas vice president of membership, Texas vice president of programs and is now the state president.

“I definitely wouldn’t be the same person without FCCLA,” Morgan said. “When I was in sixth grade, I had no confidence. I’ve gained leadership skills and so many skills that would set me up for my future. I’ve also gained so many valuable contacts that will help me in my future.”

In addition to FCCLA, Morgan is active in several activities at Graford High School, including National Honor Society, student council and UIL. She also plays basketball, volleyball and tennis.

“This scholarship is the opportunity to get to do something amazing and change people’s lives around me. I’m passionate about teaching, and this scholarship gives me the opportunity to be a teacher,” she said. “Without this scholarship, it might be hard to look at student debt behind my back, and that’s why I’m very grateful for this scholarship.”

TFB District 4 State Director James Foster presented the scholarship to Morgan during the state conference.
