S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award
Growing up on my family's farm, I knew pursuing a career in agriculture is what I was made to do. I am a Plant, Soil and Environmental Sciences major at West Texas A&M University and plan to pursue a career in crop consulting or Extension.
Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship
I will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall to study crop and soil science. I plan to go into research and development of new seed varieties of cotton. This allows me to pursue my passions of agriculture and science.
District 1 Scholarship Recipients
I am a fifth-generation rancher. I want to continue the legacy my family has provided. I will attend Texas A&M University and get my degree in agribusiness. This degree will allow me to run my family's farm and ranch and become a cattle broker.
My father is a first-generation farmer who has shown me the value of hard work and has inspired me to pursue a career in agriculture. I will be attending Texas A&M to receive my bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and master's degree in public administration. After that, I plan on attending law school and will pursue a career in agricultural policy.
I have built and utilized leadership skills throughout 4-H and FFA at club, county, district and state levels. The influence of countless conversations with my father about my show animals, the economy, market trends and commodity prices, along with my 4-H and FFA experiences, have fueled my desire to pursue a career in agricultural business and economics.
As the son of an agricultural science teacher and an elementary teacher, my life has been centered around involving myself in agriculture to develop myself, my peers and my community. I will attend Texas Tech University to double major in agricultural economics and finance. I plan to work in agricultural finance and real estate to help farmers and ranchers leverage their financial situation to plan for their future.
District 2 Scholarship Recipients
My love for public speaking, leadership and agriculture grew while participating in FFA. I hope to use these passions by using my voice to advocate for agriculture. I plan to major in agribusiness and animal science.
I grew up with a rural ranching background in the Panhandle where there are more cattle than people. I plan to combine my passions for agriculture and STEM by studying in agricultural engineering at Texas A&M University.
I have always had an interest in studying accounting and marketing. I hope to eventually run my family's farm. I also hope to own an accounting firm to help farmers and ranchers prosper.
I hope to become a ruminant nutritionist or run my own ranch. My passion for beef production has grown from attending Feedyard Camp, working with my cow-calf operation and livestock production in school.
District 3 Scholarship Recipients
I hope to become an embryologist for beef and equine programs. Becoming an embryologist would allow me to help improve genetics to benefit the agricultural community.
At a young age I started playing sports and competing in FFA by showing goats. I have continued to participate in these activities by starting to breed and raise my own show goats. I am so grateful for my childhood and all of the opportunities I have received. I plan to pursue a career within agricultural economics.
I have social responsibility, the confidence to think for myself, an awareness to embrace new ideas and an ability to communicate. My intended career choice involves economics and financing in agriculture. I have chosen this path because financing has long fascinated me.
I have a deep love for production agriculture and agricultural policy. I plan on attending West Texas A&M University and majoring in agricultural communications. I then plan to pursue a master's and PhD in international agriculture. I hope to work with the U.N. to help promote worldwide sustainable agriculture.
District 4 Scholarship Recipients
My experience and time spent in both Texas 4-H and FFA cultivated my passion for all things agriculture. I plan to attend Texas A&M University in the fall to obtain a degree in animal science that I will use to serve as an agricultural advocate.
My goal is to manage a farm and ranch operation, applying business knowledge I learn at Oklahoma State University and real life experiences to maximize profits and minimize loss. This career path aligns with my passion for the agriculture industry and will allow me an opportunity to be an advocate for it.
I grew up on the Blackland Tallgrass Prairie—one of the most endangered ecosystems. I want to be able to protect our native species and find sustainability between farming, hunting and wildlife. I plan to be a wildlife biologist when I finish college. My pursuits of managing wildlife and bringing native plants back to my blackland prairie encompass my life.
I am a third-generation Shorthorn breeder. We also do a little bit of hay farming. I began 4-H when I was eight and FFA in the seventh grade. Since then, I have dedicated all my extracurricular time to agriculture.
District 5 Scholarship Recipients
I have been blessed to grow up in a rural setting, which led me to develop a strong passion for agriculture. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, it is my goal to pursue a career as a veterinary pharmaceutical sales representative. This is the ideal career for me because it will allow me to pursue my passions for agriculture and helping others.
I plan to become an agricultural science teacher where I will have the opportunity to work with the next generation of leaders, innovator, and agriculturalists. This passion has stemmed from my love of helping youth and love of agriculture.
As a young agriculturalist, I have developed an understanding and passion for unique methods of "agvocacy" and service. I believe that agriculture and healthcare go hand in hand. My goal is to become a pediatrician to teach children how better health begins with the food they consume. My love of agriculture and people creates a drive to advance both industries in the goal of improving health and ag literacy across the globe.
I want to leave a positive legacy on agriculture, my community and my family’s farm. I intend on being an ag teacher and running a farm. My grandfather was an ag teacher and he also ran the family farm. I look up to him in many ways, and he has encouraged me too pursue a future similar to his.

I have lived on a farm my entire life and being in agriculture has shaped who I am today. Because of the lessons farm life taught me, I gained a desire to serve and to lead in my community and in the organizations my heart holds dear. Because of my roots and experiences, I plan to attend medical school to become a doctor.
I plan to major in agricultural communications. Since I am from a small town, I know the struggles that small operations face. So, I hope to become an advocate for both big and small farm and ranch operations.
I am a fourth-generation farmer whose life has revolved around the special section of land I call home. I enjoy anything that has a motor and moving parts and plan to study mechanical engineering in college.
I grew up in a small town where my family farms and ranches growing cotton and raising show stock. I pride myself as a God-fearing, farm boy who loves to evaluate livestock and work hard to reach my goals. I choose to gain knowledge within agricultural studies.

I plan to be an agricultural science teacher and FFA advisor in a rural high school. I want to help kids learn the importance of agriculture in our daily lives, assist with stock show animals and develop future leaders.
I aspire to make an impact on the next generation. I am pursuing an agricultural engineering and education degree from Sam Houston State University. I want to teach the future of our industry with the help of my experiences.
I grew up on a ranch raising 200 registered Southdown sheep and a herd of production cattle. As a 4-H Livestock Ambassador, I have had oppurtunities to speak with representatives about the importance of promoting agriculture on the local, state and national level. I plan to study agricultural communications and become a lobbyist to help promote agriculture.
I plan to attend Texas A&M University, and I am very excited about my future as an Aggie! I love agriculture and the people who are involved in this industry. I want to use my agricultural background and my human resources degree to be an effective leader that helps others in all areas of their career.

I have chosen to become a family medicine physician so that I can provide quality healthcare to people of all ages, rather than specializing in just one group of people. My longterm goal it to return to my hometown and give back.
I plan on becoming a wildlife biologist. My passion for biology grew from learning about it in high school and participating in 4-H Natural Resources, watching the Texas Parks and Wildlife TV series and attending Wildlife Conservation Camp.
My goal is to become a doctor. I hope to make a positive difference in others’ lives. I want nothing more than to use my skills for good, and I hope I can change someone’s life for the better.
District 9 Scholarship Recipients
Recent experiences with Texas Farm Bureau strengthened my desire to advocate for agriculture. I aspire to become an agricultural problem solver through mechanical development and education. My hope is to help create efficient machines to feed today's world and generations beyond.
After graduation, I will be attending Montreat College in North Carolina to play collegiate soccer. My plans are to major in pre-veterinary medicine. I aspire to attend vet school afterwards, so I can practice both small and large animal medicine.
I have had many different interests in my life but one that has been a constant is animal science. The more I dive into veterinary medicine, the deeper my interest and passion grows. My love for animal science and desire to help animals and their owners encourages me to follow my dream.
After high school, I plan to attend TSTC to study electrical power and controls. I was able to work at a local electric company in the summer and enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the business.

Agriculture has been a strong part of my life and the life of my family for many years. I hope to change the way we look at agriculture and create more affordable ways to feed livestock. I want to help those who raise hoofstock and show stock understand every aspect of feeding.
I want to become a veterinarian and focus on large animals. I have spent a vast majority of my time around livestock and have deep roots in rural life. I dream of starting my own mobile vet clinic.
I am attending Texas A&M University in the fall and plan to work in real estate. I communicate well with others, which while important in any profession, it is critical to success in real estate. I have an entrepreneurial mindset, work ethic and deep knowledge of production agriculture.

Growing up as an agricultural science teacher's daughter, I was constantly exposed to agriculture and learned about the industry from a young age. I intend to use my college degree to become a farm and ranch consultant. I hope to help producers navigate environmental laws and regulations while maintaining efficient and sustainable production and continuing to provide for the growing population.
I will be studying animal science at West Texas A&M University and would like to earn my master's in nutrition. My goal is to give back to the livestock industry and the youth of agriculture. Working in the feed industry will help me achieve this goal of mine.
I am pursuing a career in agricultural finance. I dream of returning to my roots and becoming a partner in my family's aquaculture operation. I also hope to expand the operation into oyster farming.

From being a Clover Kid in 4-H to being on Texas 4-H Council, I have become passionate about agriculture and developing other agricultural advocates. With only 2% of the U.S. population directly involved in agriculture, I decided to pursue a career in agritourism. I desire to bring people together to experience agricultural in a fun, informative way.
I plan to become a Texas Game Warden. I hope I can make a difference in our great state by protecting the wildlife and their habitat, so future generations can enjoy our land and animals.
I plan to pursue a creer in agricultural lobbying to help give a voice to agriculturalists who are busy feeding the world. By advocating on the policy side, I hope to influence laws to benefit both the producer and the consumer.

With the closest veterinarian being over an hour away, my goal is to become a veterinarian. I plan to open an animal clinic in Starr County and also provide vaccination and spay and neuter clinics locally. I grew up with a passion for working and caring for animals.
Being a Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador and an intern for the Greater Harlingen Chamber of Commerce has influenced my interest in policy. I plan on receiving a degree in agricultural economics, attending law school and becoming an agricultural lawyer.
Growing up, there were two things I excelled in and knew would tie into my future career: agriculture and math. I plan to marry those skills as I pursue a bachelor's in agricultural economics and master's in public service administration at Texas A&M University.

I attend Tarleton State University and am pursuing my longterm dream of becoming an agricultural science teacher. I have seen the impact high school agricultural science teachers have on students. It is my passion to build the future of agriculture and help kids reach their full potential through the FFA.
After graduating from Tarleton State University, I plan on becoming an agricultural science teacher. I hope to instill my love and passion for agriculture in my future students and help them prepare for their future, just as mine did.
I am studying interdisciplinary agriculture and education at Sam Houston State University. I plan to become an agricultural science teacher after I graduate in December. I want to teach youth and young adults about why agriculture is important in our daily lives.

I have always had a heart for children and education, so I would like to apply that to the agricultural field as an educator. I aim to shape the minds of the next generation while applying the support required to create leaders in the ag industry.
I am a preservice agricultural education teacher, and I chose this career path due to the impact my ag science teacher had on my life. As I enter into this career, I hope to provide opportunities for all students to be successful in agriculture and FFA.
As a future agricultural educator, my goal is to plant a seed of knowledge in every student that will grow into a love for agriculture. I also hope to provide every student with multiple opportunities so that they can find their place in the world.

My passion for animals, large and small, never faded growing up on a farm, working cattle, tending to our horses and showing rabbits, pigs and goats. I plan to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in animal science and veterinary medicine, after which I will work as a mixed-practice veterinarian.

I raise Angus and commercial cattle and have utilized my skills in artificial insemination to build my herd and improve genetics. I have aspirations to be an embryologist and obtain employment in a reproductive lab with long term goals of opening my own business in Northeast Texas.

Rural Veterinary Scholarship
Being a veterinarian has always been my passion. For me, it is a dream come true to have the opportunity to wade through cow manure, get your legs taken out by pigs or doing horse colic work up in the late hours of the night if that means saving an animal.
Veterinary medicine provides a career of great responsibility and reward. I am excited to be entering a career of serving a rural Texas community through veterinary medicine.
Veterinary medicine depicts more than just the care of animals. It is about serving the community and building relationships with clients from various industries and cultures. Choosing this career allows me to grow the community and its aspirations.
Growing up on a cow calf operation in Central Texas sparked my love for veterinary medicine. Pulling calves, doctoring cattle and doing small animal surgeries late in the night is where I've always felt I fit in.
