Two fall workshops hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension aim to provide the tools and knowledge to help Texas landowners with legal and leasing challenges.

These workshops cover important legal and leasing topics for Texas landowners, including water and fence law, landowner liability and strategies for drafting and negotiating grazing, livestock and hunting leases.

Owning Your Piece of Texas
The Owning Your Piece of Texas Workshop will take place Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Brazos County AgriLife Extension Office in Bryan.

This course is designed to help landowners be aware of issues that could arise and laws that have an impact on them. It answers many questions farmers, ranchers and rural landowners may have and will provide general guidance on legal issues related to their property.

The day-long workshop will cover topics such as landowner liability, fence law, water law, eminent domain and more.

Registration is $75 per person and covers lunch and printed materials.

Ranchers Leasing Workshop
The Ranchers Leasing Workshop is Thursday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Brazos County AgriLife Extension Office in Bryan.

The workshop will focus on the legal and economic issues surrounding grazing and hunting leases, as well as landowner liability.

Topics to be covered include grazing, livestock and hunting leases; legal and economic considerations for lease agreements; and strategies to draft and negotiate leases that protect both landowners and tenants.

Registration is $50 per person and includes lunch, presentation materials and a copy of the Ranchers Agricultural Leasing Handbook.
