Tools, data and skills needed to evaluate the potential profitability of alternative crops will be discussed at the upcoming Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s profitability workshop. The event is set for March 26 in Lubbock.
Funding from a Texas State Cotton Support Committee grant enables AgriLife Extension to develop a crop budget projection tool, conduct training workshops and update data, according to AgriLife Today.
Four cotton budgets and 23 other crop budgets are included in a comparison spreadsheet that can be evaluated with expected input costs and crop prices. CropCost, an app for iPhones and iPads, also will be discussed.
Registration is $20. Participants will receive printed and electronic copies of the crop budget spreadsheets, break-even tables and other data calculated from the set of budgets.
