Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife) will host a multi-county wheat and stocker cattle program for West Central Texas farmers and ranchers on Oct. 14 in Cross Plains.

The program will offer the latest information on grazing stocker cattle on wheat, said Jerry Warren, AgriLife Extension agent in Callahan County. Warren and Scott Anderson, AgriLife Extension agent in Brown County, will conduct the program, according to AgriLife Today.

The program scheduled speakers are Dr. Ted McCollum, AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, and Dr. Jason Johnson, AgriLife Extension economist. Topics will include the importance of wheat forage availability and value of weight gain in stocker cattle, expected returns from cattle and decision-making options of dual grazing/grain production of wheat.

The program begins at 6 p.m. and individual registration is $10, payable at the door. For more information, contact the AgriLife Extension offices in Callahan or Brown counties at 325-854-5835 and 325-646-0386, respectively.
