There’s good news for farmers and ranchers who are just starting out or who have had limited access to a risk management safety net in the past.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced recently that its Whole-Farm Revenue Protection insurance will be available to every county in the nation in 2016.
The department is also making changes to its policy to help beginning farmers and ranchers, organic farmers as well as fruit and vegetable growers.
Whole-Farm Revenue Protection insurance allows farmers and ranchers who previously had limited access to a risk management program to insure all of their commodities at once.
