Hurricane Harvey impacted farms and ranches across numerous Texas counties.

Representatives from various federal and state agencies will host Disaster Assistance County Workshops and have information on assistance available for losses incurred as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Risk Management Agency, along with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas Department of Agriculture, will present information on disaster assistance programs and resources available to farmers, ranchers and rural communities.

Workshop topics will cover emergency assistance for livestock and crop-related losses, deadlines for applying for disaster assistance programs, procedures for filing claims through crop insurance, financial assistance programs to help with farm damage and programs to help with the restoration and rehabilitation of farmland.

Those programs will include the Livestock Indemnity Program, Emergency Conservation Program, Emergency Livestock Assistance Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program and the State of Texas Agriculture Relief (STAR) Fund.

The events are free and open to the public.
