Water utility personnel are urged to attend an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system training in July, according to AgriLife Today.

The free trainings are set for July 16 in Beaumont and July 17 in Conroe. The Texas Water Resources Institute, which is part of Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and Johnson Controls, Inc. are coordinating the trainings.

“The trainings are open to municipal employees interested in learning more about various aspects of advanced metering infrastructure, or AMI, system technology. The technology uses water meters to wirelessly transmit hourly household water usage information to water utilities and then potentially to water users through a customer website, said Dr. Allen Berthold, Texas Water Resources Institute research scientist.

The trainings have limited seating, so preregistration is recommended. To preregister or more information click here. For more information, contact Berthold at 979-845-2028 or taberthold@ag.tamu.edu.
