Consumers of all ages can learn all about Texas agriculture this winter and spring through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Doorways to Agriculture exhibit.
The exhibit brings an interactive, agricultural learning experience to fairs, livestock shows and events across the state.
“The exhibit truly lives up to its namesake and opens doors to agriculture for those in attendance at fairs and livestock shows across the state,” TFB Outreach Coordinator Todd Swick said. “Doorways to Agriculture has hands-on learning opportunities that engage consumers and helps show how so many things relate back to agriculture.”
Consumers can interact with state-of-the-art touchscreen kiosks, oversized interactive “books” and a theater showcasing videos produced by TFB. The walk-through trailer is full of displays and games that encourage consumers of all ages to learn more about food and fiber.
“Whether you live in the country or the heart of a big city, most items you use every day begin on a farm,” Swick said. “Doorways to Agriculture is TFB’s way of inviting people in to discover all the ways Texas farmers and ranchers impact their life.”
The Doorways to Agriculture exhibit includes a miniature model of Eli Whitney’s cotton gin, which shows how the raw cotton is transformed into a clean fiber.
Other presentations available through the exhibit include a corn shelling demonstration and a wheat processing demonstration.
Doorways to Agriculture will be on display at:

- San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo: Feb. 12 – March 1
- Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo: March 2-22
