Industry experts will share their knowledge on numerous issues impacting agriculture in the Lone Star State at this year’s Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Summer Leadership Conference in San Marcos.

“The annual conference is the place for our members to stay up to date on commodity and regulatory activities, as well as emerging issues in agriculture,” Regan Beck, TFB director of Government Affairs, said.

The conference is set for June 24-26 at the Embassy Suites-San Marcos.

This year’s conference will feature speakers on trade, hemp production, cell-cultured protein and the recently released 2017 Census of Agriculture. An overview of the 86th Texas Legislature and the political landscape are also on the agenda.

The Summer Leadership Conference will include several breakout sessions on various topics, including crops, livestock, farm safety, cyber-security, technology and wildlife.

“This conference is an opportunity for TFB members to come together and discuss these issues and the impact they have on Texas agriculture,” Beck said.

An educational trip to the Luling Foundation is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. on Monday, June 24.

The Luling Foundation helps demonstrate ideas for diversity and profitable agriculture through educational opportunities and community service.

During the four-hour workshop, participants can earn continuing education units for Pesticide Safety for Crops and Livestock and Apps in Ag for Farming and Ranching.

The Monday afternoon workshop is optional. Admission is $10 for those participants who choose to attend.

TFB’s 24 commodity advisory committees will also meet during the conference.
