Texas Farm Bureau members can expand their beef industry knowledge at the 71st Annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course and save on the registration fee using their member benefits.
The short course is the largest beef cattle educational event in the U.S.
“This event is valuable for all ranchers, whether they’re just starting out or have years of experience,” said Tracy Tomascik, TFB associate director of Commodity and Regulatory Activities. “The TFB member discount is an extra incentive to take advantage of the knowledge and connections available.”
The three-day event dives into all aspects of cattle production, offering more than 50 hours of training across 20 courses. Those topics include animal health, nutrition, reproduction, animal handling techniques, business strategies and marketing. Continuing education units are available for both pesticide license holders and veterinarians.
In addition to the educational sessions, the short course features a trade show with more than 150 agricultural exhibitors and the traditional prime rib dinner, a highlight for many attendees.
More than 1,500 ranchers and beef industry representatives are expected to be in attendance, but a virtual option also will be available.
A youth track for high school students will be offered again this year.
“The short course is a great opportunity for ranchers to gain some beef production knowledge, hear from industry experts and meet with fellow ranchers from across Texas and the U.S.,” said Dr. Jason Cleere, conference coordinator and AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist. “Every year, we have a diverse group of attendees and workshops, and we’re excited to once again partner with Texas Farm Bureau to offer members a discounted registration.”
