The Texas Water Development Board’s (TWDB) latest drought report states “the past week has been a mixed bag for drought with improvements in some areas and degradation in others.”

Drought statistics show 59 percent of Texas is currently in moderate to exceptional drought; a week ago it was at 58 percent. Both statuses are much better than a year ago when 89 percent of the state was in the same drought condition.

Reservoir storage declined, which is typical during the dog days of summer with higher evaporation, lower rainfall, and greater use, according to TWDB.

Most of the state is expected to see improved drought conditions by the end of November.
