Texans will have the opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment related to the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife Nov. 3.
Senate Joint Resolution 22 was approved May 20 by the Texas House of Representatives with at 111:1 vote. Sen. Brandon Creighton, author of the resolution, said he was pleased with the outcome, as many Texans share a common bond when it comes to hunting and fishing.
“We are just really encouraged that Texans, through their representatives and senators, have taken a stand to protect the rights to hunt and fish amongst all of the different national implications that we see and hear about every day,” Creighton said.
According to Lonestar Outdoor News, 18 states currently have similar amendments in their state constitutions.
