Texas growers worried by third citrus quarantine zone

As a devastating citrus disease appears to be spreading throughout South Texas, state agriculture officials have expanded a quarantine.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) quarantined a third area in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) after a sampling survey found more trees infected, according to the Houston Chronicle. RGV residents are prohibited from moving citrus plants or plant materials outside the affected areas.

The disease, which turns citrus fruits green and fouls their taste, also has been found in Florida, California, Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina.
