According to the latest Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Grocery Price Watch survey, consumers are seeing an increase in second quarter grocery prices. The total cost of the 16-item grocery bill rose to $47.63, up from $46.66 last quarter.
The main source of this increase comes from the rising costs of beef and poultry products.
But recent rainfall and green pastures are expected to drive beef expansion, which should eventually lower the beef prices at the meat counter.
Good for consumers, eight of the 16 surveyed items decreased in price from last quarter, including bread, dried pinto beans, milk, ice cream and tomatoes.
