Parts of Texas saw significant rainfall last week, which delayed planting in some areas.
Parts of East Texas saw up to eight inches during the week, while the Panhandle area experienced severe hail storms.
With up to two inches of hail in some areas, wheat crops were damaged. But the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) shows other wheat crops across the state are steadily maturing.
Cotton planting in the High Plains and Northeast Texas was delayed due to the substantial precipitation.
In South Texas, corn plants show continued growth. And sorghum planting throughout the state is underway.
Livestock conditions were mostly good across the Lone Star State with range and pasture development continuing to make good progress. A recent NASS report shows 41 percent of range and pasture is rated “good.”
