The Texas Crop Registry is a new initiative to help reduce the number of pesticide drift incidents across the state through increased communication between pesticide applicators and growers, reports Morning Ag Clips.

Pesticides are an important component of Texas agriculture. However, damage can occur when pesticides sprayed onto one crop drifts into neighboring fields that have different pesticide sensitivities. Texas is diverse in agricultural crops that grow in close proximity.

Any grower in Texas can register the location of their crops through an easy-to-use web page. Once in the registry, pesticide applicators can search this information to help plan and modify treatments close to registered crop locations.

Funding for the registry was provided by the Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association. The registry is designed and managed by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Service.
