Due to the drought, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) declared 240 Texas counties as primary natural disaster areas.
Farmers and ranchers in those areas who qualify can apply for low-interest emergency loans from the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). The loans are available to help farmers cover part of their losses due to the recent drought.
The application should be completed within the first eight months after the declaration.
The entire list of counties can be found on the USDA website.
For more information about other programs to assist eligible farmers with recovering their losses, visit the USDA FSA page.
