For four years, the Texas Ag Today podcast, hosted by the Texas Farm Bureau Radio Network, has been covering local, state and national agricultural news.
Since the podcast launched in September 2020, over 1,000 episodes have been published with more than 414,000 downloads.
The podcast is hosted by Carey Martin, along with the largest and most-experienced farm news team in the Lone Star State that includes Tom Nicolette, TFB senior network producer, and Jessica Domel, TFB multimedia reporter.
Twelve contributing reporters spread out through every region of the state also contribute to the podcast, which is posted every weekday.
“We cover topics and news that affect the livelihoods of Texas farmers and ranchers from farm policy and environmental issues in Washington, D.C. to county events in Texas,” Martin said.
The podcast also includes regular reports on crop and livestock conditions, as well as a daily segment on crop, livestock and energy markets.
“The podcast primarily covers full-time production agriculture but also touches on other issues that are important to rural Texans, such as our daily veterinary report, our lawn and gardening program and hunting,” Martin said.
Texas Ag Today provides a daily look at the latest news that impacts farmers, ranchers, rural Texans and anyone involved in agriculture.
“The biggest achievement we have had recently is hitting 1,000 episodes. We’ve published an episode every single weekday for four years. That’s over 22,000 minutes of audio,” Martin said. “Another big reward is hearing from all of the farmers and ranchers who listen and appreciate what we are doing.”
The podcast has been downloaded in over 50 countries outside of the U.S., with the most downloads coming from Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and Taiwan.
Listeners can subscribe to Texas Ag Today on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and anywhere you can listen to podcasts.
It is also available on the TFB website.
“Our research shows we can reach about 60% of Texas farmers and ranchers through our radio network stations. Texas Ag Today is a way to reach the other 40%. Plus, many people want audio on demand,” Martin said. “Podcast listening has exploded over the past few years, and Farm Bureau wants to be a part of that.”
The Texas Farm Bureau Radio Network is the state’s number one and most listened-to agricultural radio network. The network features over 130 affiliate stations and rates highest for Texas farmer and rancher all-day listening.
