Texas teachers can grow agricultural literacy in the classroom with help from Texas Farm Bureau (TFB).

TFB is celebrating its fifth-annual Ag Literacy Week Book Program, in conjunction with National Ag Week, on March 16-20, 2026.

K-5 public, private and homeschool teachers in Texas can sign up to receive an accurate ag book to read during Ag Literacy Week, and it’s free.

“We want to inspire students to learn more accurate information about agriculture and connect it to their classroom experiences,” Carson Read, Texas Farm Bureau education coordinator, said. “This program invites K-5 teachers across the state to join us in increasing agricultural literacy in the classroom by reading an educational, accurate ag book.”

The free book that will be provided by TFB is I LOVE Blueberries by Shannon Anderson. The short book is the sequel to the award-winning book, I LOVE Strawberries.

The story follows Jolie and her new friend Margot as they work together with their classmates and their community to set up a hydroponics growing station in their classroom to grow their own blueberries.

“Not only does the program bring agriculture into the classroom, but it provides teachers with fun, free resources to incorporate the topic in their lessons,” Read said. “Blueberries are grown by farmers across the country and can even be found in home gardens. This book and its activities help students see the connection between agriculture and the foods they love to eat.”

TFB will provide free resources, including a TEKS-aligned educator’s guide.

The Ag Literacy Week Book Program is open to Texas public, private or homeschool educators who teach kindergarten through fifth grade.

Organizations are not eligible to register.

Click here to sign up by Feb. 2.

Teachers will receive their copy of the book and an educator’s guide in the mail in March.

Teachers are also asked to share photos on social media with the hashtag #ReadAgBooksTX2026 as they read the books to their class during the week of March 16-20.

Teachers who tag TFB on social media and use the hashtag will be entered into a drawing. Only public posts will count toward the drawing.
