Lawmakers, along with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association, worked together to create the Water-Efficient Products Sales Tax Holiday, which is set for May 28-30.
To be considered tax-free, the items must conserve groundwater, recharge water tables or limit water evaporation. Products included are plants, trees and grasses, rain barrels, drip-irrigation hoses and mulch.
There is no limit on the number of qualifying items Texans can purchase throughout the weekend. Texas Farm Bureau supported the legislation creating the new sales tax holiday.
