A three-story cotton gin in Burton, Texas, is touted as the nation’s oldest working gin operating at its original location and with original components.

According to The Republic, the Burton Farmers Gin was built in 1914 with $10,000 raised from 13 Southeast Texas farmers who pursued their dreams of making a living growing cotton. The gin is now primarily a museum piece, but it still produces 500-pound bales of cotton.

Records kept by gin operators show 82 bales were made in 1914.

The gin also has won recognition from the Texas Historical Commission and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
