High school sophomores and juniors can sign up to participate in the Engage program offered through Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Student Success Series.

The in-person events will take place in each TFB district.

Students will learn the fundamentals of the free enterprise system and how it impacts business and consumer structures in the U.S. and abroad. They will also learn how to develop a personal brand and the importance of establishing themselves as credible, knowledgeable sources of information for issues they are passionate about.

“Students should participate in Engage events because it is an opportunity for them to network with peers from across their TFB district and learn new concepts that will be helpful as they continue their high school and post-secondary journey,” McKenna Bush, TFB Youth Outreach coordinator, said. “They can also compete for cash prizes awarded to the top three winners of the Free Enterprise Speech contest.”

Through the Engage program, students will learn from county leaders, Young Farmer & Rancher Advisory Committee members, TFB field representatives and TFB state directors.

“These individuals will share their Farm Bureau experiences and involvement with the students, encouraging them to take advantage of opportunities available to them now as high school students and later as young leaders in their future endeavors,” Bush said.

Registration for Engage events closes March 17 and will have a $10 registration fee.

Events will be hosted in April and May.

Information on dates and locations, as well as the registration link, are available on the Student Success Series webpage at texasfarmbureau.org/student-success-series.

Participants will receive a TFB t-shirt and other TFB-branded items.

Additional Student Success Series programs
Additional programs—Jumpstart, Activate and Thrive—are available for students in eighth, ninth and twelfth grade.

“The Student Success Series is an opportunity to hone skills gleaned from other extracurricular pursuits,” Bush said. “Whether that’s culinary arts, robotics, band, sports, 4-H, FFA or FCCLA, there is something for everyone to take away from the Student Success Series. It’s an opportunity to learn more about their community, agriculture and to develop critical professional skills.”

Details and registration for Jumpstart, Activate and Thrive will be made available on texasfarmbureau.org/student-success-series.
