National Farm Safety week is coming up in a few days. To celebrate, the Agricultural Safety and Health Council of America (ASHCA) will make available about a dozen safety grants up to $10,000.

The grants are designed to “encourage and provide financial support for agricultural safety and health interventions at the local and/or regional level.”

The theme for this year’s grants is “strengthening partnerships for safety.”

Grant applications that engage both management and workers in the planning and implementation of successful injury reduction programs will be given priority. Priority will also be given to programs that are hands-on and will increase adoption of safety practices beyond the grant period.

Initiatives for underserved and high-risk populations will also receive priority.

ASHCA is a non-profit coalition of agribusiness, producer organizations and safety professionals.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 7.

Additional information about the programs can be found at www.ASHCA.org.

National Farm Safety week is Sept. 20-26.
