Texas wheat farmers need to be aware of ongoing environmental regulations coming out of Washington, D.C., according to Steelee Fischbacher, director of policy and marketing for the Texas Wheat Producers Board and Association (TWPBA).
According to Southwest Farm Press, Fischbacher noted that sustainability standards can impact farmers and biotech wheat development will offer new opportunities to improve efficiency. Farmers tactfully use water sources and apply nitrogen fertilizers, making them very efficient users of the land and the resources they have available.
Improved yields will be the result in the development of biotech wheat.
“Growers have said they want it and tech companies are back in,” said Fischbacher. “We will work to prepare the market for biotech wheat.”
