Landowners and lessees of ranch land are invited to participate in Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s workshop.

The Ranchers Leasing Workshop will cover the legal and economic issues surrounding grazing, hunting and livestock leases. Topics addressed include average cash lease rates, common payment structures, legal issues and key terms to be included in lease agreements. In addition, the workshop will cover steps that can be taken to shield a landowner and tenant from potential liability for injuries.

A new topic will also be added this year. AgriLife staff will cover Pasture, Range and Forage insurance.

The workshop is a half-day program designed for both agricultural landowners and tenants.

The workshop features presentations from an attorney and an economist who will interact with participants and answer questions.

AgriLife’s Ranchers Leasing Workshops are scheduled for three different dates:

  • Feb. 27 in Waco
  • May 9 in Boerne
  • Sept. 13 in Decatur

Each participant will receive a copy of the Ranchers Agricultural Leasing Handbook with sample lease language and lease checklists.

Lunch will be provided to participants.

The Ranchers Leasing Workshop costs $50 per person.

An online version of the workshop is also available for $75. The online workshop does not come with a printed copy of the handbook.
