Prescribed burning is a tool that can be used to manage rangeland vegetation for livestock and wildlife use.

Texas A&M AgriLife Research’s Academy for Ranch Management (ARM) will offer a basic prescribed burn training Aug. 14-16 in Sonora. The training is open to those who would like to learn about the benefits, planning and carrying out of prescribed burns.

An advanced course will be held on March 5-7, 2015, which will provide more detailed information on planning and conducting a prescribed burn. An individual who takes both training courses and passes the exam will have completed the educational component for the Certified Prescribed Burn Manager.
