The Pineywoods Cattle Congress will be held April 17 in San Augustine County to address strategies on the new economics of beef cattle production, according to AgriLife Today.
The congress is a multi-county event for residents of Shelby, Panola, Nacogdoches, Angelina, San Augustine and Sabine counties. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Topics will include costs to rebuild herds; short-term and long-term market outlook; input costs; cattle selection tips; forage development; and weed control. During the afternoon, attendees will tour pastures at the Bennis and Maribel Steptoe Ranch—the location of this year’s annual congress.
Registration is $20 and includes lunch. Two general continuing education units will be offered for Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicators.
