A new multi-million dollar guar plant will open its doors in the Texas Panhandle later this month.
Guar Resources, LLC’s new plant, located next door to one formerly owned by West Texas Guar, will both split the beans and reduce the beans into powder, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The company bought the processing operation from West Texas Guar when the company declared bankruptcy several years ago.
The company tells the paper they are working to rebuild relationships with the growers who were impacted by the bankruptcy.
The ownership, management and vision for the company are new, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Guar is a drought-resistant crop that is often grown in rotation with other crops like cotton. It is grown on a contract basis.
The beans produced by the plants can be used in food manufacturing, makeup and other cosmetics and in the hydraulic fracturing process.
