According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) latest Crop Progress report, nearly 20 percent of the nation’s corn has been planted as of April 26, 2015, reports Drovers CattleNetwork.
Last year at this time only 17 percent had been planted. The five year average at this date is 25 percent.
In the report, the USDA showed the majority of states remain below their individual five-year average, including Texas.
The USDA also reported 2 percent of nation’s corn has now emerged. Texas is one of seven states that have reported at least 1 percent of corn emerged.
