John Deere announced the 3D Series compact utility tractors this summer.
The series features three new models that are new in every way, Ray Gherardini, Product Marketing manager for compact utility tractors for John Deere, said. The models are gear-driven, with two ranges and four speeds per range.
This is a step away from the hydrostatic-driven models John Deere has been releasing lately, Gherardini said.
“Many customers told us they would like to have a gear-driven tractor in this horsepower range, so we designed and built the 3D Series,” he said.
In the new series, the gear shift is located on the fender. This is a change from previous compact utility series tractors John Deere has made previously, which featured the gear shift on the operator platform by the driver’s knees.
It’s a necessary change and one that benefits the driver, Gherardini said.
“It’s ergonomically comfortable and easy to use,” he said.
Customers have been asking for a rugged drivetrain with heavy-duty components, Gherardini said. They wanted these tractors to deliver maximum durability with increased torque and power to the ground.
The 3D Series meets those requests, he said.
The series will be priced lower than its hydrostatic transmission counterparts, serving as a more economical option for farmers.
Models in the 3D Series include the 25-hp 3025D, 35-hp 3035D and the 43-hp 3043D.
