Gov. Greg Abbott approved a request to temporarily suspend vehicle size and weight restrictions for all activity necessary to respond to emergency situations due to Texas’ recent disastrous weather, according to the Office of the Governor proclamation.
Abbott issued Emergency Disaster Proclamations on May 11, May 15 and May 25, 2015, certifying that the severe weather, tornado and flooding event that began on May 4, 2015, has caused a disaster in many Texas counties.
The proclamation applies to any disaster-declared counties and any Texas county through which transport is necessary to reach the emergency response area. It does not suspend any weight restrictions on the national system of interstate and defense highways.
This suspension will be in effect until the emergency declaration is lifted by the governor.
