Safety on the farm and ranch is important. Agricultural Safety Awareness Program Week, now in its eighth year, runs from March 6-12 and serves as a reminder during the busy planting season.
“The Ag Safety Awareness Program Week is a week that we, from an American Farm Bureau (AFBF) standpoint, really just want to make sure that we remind all of our farmers and ranchers and everybody involved in agriculture that safety is important as they head out to the fields for planting season,” AFBF Director of Program Development Marty Tatman said in a Newsline interview.
The program promotes farm safety for farmers and ranchers, their families, farm workers, children and visitors.
Each day will focus on a different safety area, including: ATV safety, child safety on the farm, tractor safety, roadway safety and grain bin safety.
“Whether it’s the actual farmers going into the fields or families coming out to visit the farmers and ranchers, it’s important that we always keep in mind that safety should be our number one priority,” Tatman said.
