Moms are the heart of the family and the farm.

Warm and caring. Dedicated and hard-working. They juggle responsibilities and care for their families, farms and communities.

They go above and beyond what’s expected.

For that, Monsanto Company wants to honor and recognize the farm moms who work toward a bright agricultural future. The company has officially opened nominations for the 2016 America’s Farmers Mom of the Year contest.

Know a farm mom who works tirelessly to support her family, farm and community and the future of agriculture?

To nominate a farm mom, sister, aunt, daughter, friend or community member, visit Monsanto’s America’s Farmers website.

Nominations are open through March 29. Each nomination must include a brief essay—300 words or less—that explains how the farm mom nominee supports her farm, family, community and agriculture.

Five regional winners will be selected by a panel of judges from American Agri-Women.

“So many women, particularly in agriculture, just focus on what needs to get done, and they do it—no matter what challenges or adversities they may be facing,” said Donnell Scott, vice president of Education for American Agri-Women. “They don’t do it to get credit or attention. These women have a ‘get it done’ attitude and love what they do and who they do it for. We love reading about their efforts and are proud to help acknowledge their hard work and contributions.”

The five regional winners will be announced at the end of April, and each winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

The profiles of the regional winners will be posted online for the public to vote for one national farm mom winner. The national winner will be announced just before Mother’s Day and she will receive an additional $5,000 cash prize for a total of $10,000.
