Texas landowners who are interested in learning more about brush control around their property are encouraged to virtually attend a webinar on the subject this week.

The Do-It-Yourself Brush Control Equipment webinar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Dr. Bob Lyons, AgriLife Extension range specialist and Texas A&M University ecosystem science and management associate department head, will discuss recommended equipment and techniques for DIY rangeland brush control.

Emphasis will be on Brush Busters leaf spray, stem spray and cut-stump treatments.

Dr. Lyons is also slated to discuss the rationale behind using the equipment and techniques.

Webinar attendees are eligible for a Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education credit for pesticide applicators.

Those seeking CEUs must pay a $10 fee on the website. For everyone else, the webinar is free.

The webinar is part of the Texas Range Webinar Series, which is held the first Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m.

Previous webinars in the series include: managing for hunting and grazing; aquatic vegetation management; ranching in oil and gas country; brush identification and control measures; rangeland apps; and preparing for mesquite and mixed brush herbicide applications.

This month’s webinar, and others in the series, are available at: http://naturalresourcewebinars.tamu.edu.

The Dec. 1 webinar will cover prescribed burning resources. It will highlight key resources, agencies, apps and helpful websites.
