A new report from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) reveals glyphosate is unlikely to cause cancer in humans.

Despite its announcement, EFSA reportedly proposed limits on the amount of glyphosate residue deemed safe to consume.

According to Reuters, the decision could lead the European Union to renew approval for the weed killer.

Monsanto, who brought glyphosate into use in the 1970s, reports that over 800 studies have demonstrated the safety of glyphosate. Glyphosate is one of the active ingredients in the company’s product, Roundup.

It’s currently used in more than 160 countries across the globe.
