Fall may have started in mid-September, but summer-like weather continues across parts of Texas–worsening drought conditions.

The latest Water Weekly report from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) indicates that 38 percent of the state is now experiencing drought conditions. That’s an 8 percent increase over the past week.

Drought conditions appear to be worse in the Texarkana area and in part of central East Texas.

Dry conditions are affecting more than statewide ground moisture. Over the past week, statewide reservoir levels have declined by 175,000 acre-feet, according to TWDB.

There is good news in the forecast. The National Weather Service is predicting wetter-than-normal conditions this month and into the winter.
