Cash rents for irrigated cropland, dryland cropland and pastureland were a mixed bag in Texas, according to the latest United States Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA NASS) survey.
Irrigated cropland cash rent in Texas is $90 per acre, up $8 from 2015. Both non-irrigated cropland and pastureland saw a decrease this year. Non-irrigated cropland fell $2 to $27 per acre and pastureland fell 70 cents to $6.80 per acre.
The 2016 NASS survey shows that nationwide pastureland, non-irrigated cropland and irrigated cropland all declined.
Pastureland rang in at $13 per acre, down $1 from 2015. Cash rent for non-irrigated cropland is down $8 to $125 per acre, and irrigated cropland cash rent is $206 per acre, down $3 from 2015.
NASS collects cash rent data for each category annually via a survey of farmers.
