To provide an introduction to winter canola crop production, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct two field days March 31 and April 1 in Central Texas.

Experts from Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas will discuss the basics of canola production and marketing, and representatives from crop insurance and chemical companies will be in attendance to answer questions.

The first of the two meetings will begin at noon March 31 at the barn on the Texas A&M AgriLife Research farm south of College Station. The meeting will move to the canola variety trials later in the afternoon. The second event is set for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 1 at the Doss Community Center, and participants will tour a canola field and view equipment used in production.

Both meetings will offer private pesticide applicators two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units—one integrated pest management and one general.

Participants are asked to RSVP by March 26. Registration is $10 and includes lunch and refreshments.
