Livestock shows are the crossroads of urban and rural life in the Lone Star State. Planet Agriculture, Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) interactive exhibit, helps bridge the gap and connect youth and adults to the food and fiber grown in Texas.

“Planet Agriculture opens the door to the world of agriculture,” TFB Organization Director Jamie Gipe said. “Kids and adults can enjoy the exhibit and learn a few things about the food and fiber grown here in Texas.”

The hands-on exhibit will be on display through March at fairs and livestock shows across the state.

“The Lone Star State is diverse and each venue brings a different crowd to the exhibit,” Gipe said. “Each stock show is another opportunity to engage consumers and highlight the importance of agriculture.”

Kids and adults can visit the exhibit at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo through Feb. 4, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Feb. 9-26 and the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show March 8-19.

“The focus is on personal learning,” Gipe said. “The displays vary at each stock show to give visitors a more personalized experience. There really is something for everyone.”

And TFB members are encouraged to volunteer at the exhibit.

“Having Texas farmers and ranchers doing the demonstrations and presentations helps visitors make a personal connection with agriculture,” Gipe said. “They get to meet the farmers and ranchers who work day in and day out to grow our food, fiber and fuel. That connection is invaluable.”
