A large part of the Lone Star State was devastated by Hurricane Harvey late last week. The category four storm hit farmers and ranchers along the Gulf Coast and further inland, devastating barns, equipment, crops and more.
In an effort to help with immediate needs, animal supply points have been established. To coordinate donations and supplies with these locations, contact the AgriLife Extension Animal Supply Point Hotline at 979-845-7800. The four animal supply points are below, and the list will be updated as more supply points are set up.
Brazoria County Animal Supply Point:
Brazoria County Fairgrounds, Angleton
Chambers County Animal Supply Point:
Winnie-Stowell Park, Winnie
Galveston County Animal Supply Point:
Galveston County Fairgrounds, Hitchcock
Hardin County Animal Supply Point:
Hardin County Forest and Ag Youth Association Building, Kountze
Nome Animal Suppy Point:
Doguet’s Diamond D Ranch Turf Farm, Nome
Orange County Animal Supply Point:
Orange Cowboy Church, Orange
If you find stray livestock, contact the Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association at 817-332-7064.
If you find cattle or other livestock with official identification, document the number and location of the animal. Call Texas Animal Health Commission at 512-719-0733 or 806-354-9335 with that information.
Large and small animal shelters and holding facilities are still available. Call 2-1-1 or contact the emergency management department in your area.
The Texas Department of Agriculture’s Hay Hotline is active to help farmers and ranchers locate forage and hay supplies. If you need hay or would like to donate hay, visit the TDA website or call 512-463-9360.
Texas Farm Bureau has also set up a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Tax deductible donations can be made to the Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation. Farmers and ranchers in the federally designated disaster areas are eligible for assistance for agriculturally-related un-reimbursable losses or expenses resulting from the storm’s winds and flooding.

These areas are hard to reach. Any chance of getting a drop off place in the Brookshire area or College Starion?
At this point, those have not been added to the list. They’re working to get a few additional supply points set up, but they will likely be closer to the Gulf Coast/Houston areas.
I hope that everybody recovers from the hurricane
Who do I contact to set up a Stallion Station in Hico? I hear that many are hesitant to take in stallions and We have the facilities to house, feed and haul them.
I do know that Brazos County Exp has horses there but Conroe is also in need.
Anyone know where I can get donated feed for my cattle, dogs and cats?
You can contact the AgriLife hotline at 979-845-7800.
I have located some people willing to donate hay for horses and cattle/livestock.
Volunteers would be needed to move that hay to a drop point. We are hearing that Orange Co is in dire need at this time.
